Reviews

Below are some critical reviews about Hiland Aluminum Mountain Shimano Speeds

Took SO many hours to assemble. The disc which arrived on the back tire was warped on the back & required true-ing. It was warped enough to rub the brake pad when the tire spinned. My husband had to research how to correct the warp, and had to take pliers to grasp the disc and straighten it out where it was off. Also, he had to adjust the gear shift, because ALL of the gears for front AND back were hitting the spokes, and he had work on the limits to set them properly. The tension on one of the cables had to be adjusted. I am very surprised that Hiland's quality tram would have passed this bike, if indeed they have a QA process in place.. The company should be up front with customers about these problems, and load videos onto YouTube to show their customers how to perform these necessary fixes as part of the assembly. Instead we had to look online to find the resources needed to make the corrections, since we couldn't afford the cost of taking the bike to one of the local cycleries for help. By the end, it took about 5 hours to finish the assembly. Once put together, the bike rides well. Another thing to note is that the color is not a true red, but more on the orange side. We ended up liking the color, since we purchased the bike for my stepson and we wanted a bright enough color to be as visible as possible, but if you don't like orange-reds, you should be aware. Also, my stepson is nearly 6'4", which is why we bought this bike in large, as it's available in multiple sizes, and the sizing worked perfectly for him as well as my husband, who is 6'5". But from what they say, the seat could be more comfortable. We will probably upgrade it soon.

Not a good quality bike. I bought it for my son to ride around the neighborhood. It started falling apart almost immediately: pedals, brakes, and wheels. I wished I had forked out more money and just bought a better quality bike. This was a total waste of money. I should have just thrown the money in a trash can and dropped a lit match on the money and watched it go up in flames. It would have saved me a lot of time and effort. Oh and I was shipped the wrong color bike to begin with so I had to repackage and reship the first bike back and wait for this POS to arrive only to have it fall apart.

I bought this bike for my daughter July 26th got it fast and was surprised to see a great looking bike. The assembly was not difficult and my son was able to put it together an an hr. After 3 days the rear tire blew up with a big bang while the bike is parked in the Gerage. I reached out to the manufacturer and they sent me a new tube fast. After the new tube was installed the bike works okay for an of hrs and than my daughter started complaining of bike being wobbly. When I look at the rear wheel it was all twested. The bike is not usable. I took the bike to Trek Bike Repair shot and they told me the wheel is not repairable and that this kind of wheel is hard to get so reach out to the manufacturer. I reached out to manufacturer and ask for a replacement wheel but I am unable to get any one from this manufacturer to commit to send me this wheel, even though I offer to pay extra for the wheel. It looks like the quality of this product and as per the bike repair shop this shouldn't happen to a mountain bike specially for such a light bike ride within a nabougherhood. I am disappointed for the quality of this product and the response from this manufacturer. Giving 3 stars.

Below are some positive reviews about Hiland Aluminum Mountain Shimano Speeds

The bike is beautiful. It came with one small scratch on the inner back wheel, that bummed me out. For $400+, I would have liked to receive a bike without scratches; however, the scratch was small in comparison to some other reviews here. The bike visually lives up to all expectations. I changed out some pieces to make it my own (and for comfort) and I am very happy with it.How Does it Ride:So, I took the bike to a shop be assembled. My first ride was a bit, eh. I really had to play with the gears in order to figure out which was best for me. There were a few times the chains popped off while riding. I slowed down and played with the gears [on both sides] to figure out the best combination. It wasn't until my 2nd ride that I found a gear that I felt comfortable with up hill, down hill, and pretty much on any terrain. It was also comfortable pulling my kids in their cart. Sometimes I get a bit afraid that the chains will pop if I jump a curb [which it shouldn't], so I take it easy for now! I'm not quite sure if this js for a long distance rider. I haven't ridden longer than 20 minutes just yet.Overall, beautiful beautiful bike. I am happy I purchased. Hit a few snags at the beginning. I am sure if I assembled it, I'd still be trying to figure things out with the gears and ensuring the brakes were tight. What Would Give this Bike 5 Stars?1) arriving with no scratches2) sturdier gear controls3) less chain popping during gear changes4) a better seat (I changed the seat out as well)

It’s great but the assembly was horrible I didn’t get any instructions on my bike and to be honest I feel that mine was a return I have many different part that do not even belong to my bike. The box was also ripped up when it got here and the down side is I’ve had to buy tools to tighten it more then the tools they gave but once it’s assembled it’s the best bike.

So far so good. Got this for a Christmas gift for my son, put it together, made some adjustments and test rode it. Make sure to spin the front fork around! It's shipped with the front fork backwards so it makes the packaging smaller. I see reviews on here with pictures of the front fork backwards and reading some of these reviews I'd bet a few people returned this bike not knowing you have to spin the handlebars around. You could ride it that way but not very well. Makes it really short and your feet hit the front wheel when you turn. Some plastic parts keep me from giving it 5 stars, like the 90 degree handle bar extensions seem pretty cheap. I left off the K-Mart looking fenders. Seems like a good value though for an aluminum frame bike with disc brakes.
