Below are some critical reviews about BAFANG Battery Conversion Electric BB68 73mmIt has plenty of power and is quiet but there is a delay between start of pedaling and when the motor kicks in and a delay when pedaling stops and the motor disengages. The motor provides power quickly so one has to be careful particularly on a steep hill to lean forward otherwise you could get thrown. The other thing I noticed is that the power settings relate to speed and not power. Using the 1919 code I set it up for 9 power levels. On level one the motor will try to get you up to about 7-8 miles per hour, level 2 about 9-10, level 3 about 11-13 etc.The installation is relatively straight forward. The most difficult part being the removal of the crank arms and bottom bracket. Pay attention to the direction of the threads on the pedals and nut holding the bottom bracket. A review of youtube videos on installation will be very helpful.
I am reluctant to post a negative review but at this point it is necessary. About 9 months ago I bought a BBSHD 1000W kit for over $800 and now it has developed an intermittent loss of display speed. It shows the correct speed or shows 00 (zero-zero) and then comes back on only to go back out again. Over and over there is a disconnection with the speed control system. I contacted Bafang regarding this problem and they suggested replacing the display or controller and that the seller should be responsible. I could have purchased the items for about $200 and made the repairs myself but why should I, there was a warranty. Now as I look back at my experience it would have been much easier. I made a request to Amazon for a repair, replacement, or refund. The Amazon customer service representatives have been very understanding and sent nice responses but after 5 messages there has still been no resolution or refund. The supplier (Greenergia) has been totally unsupportive. Until the 6th response they didn't even offer a repair or maintenance solution. They denied any responsibility stating that the 30 day return period had expired and that a replacement option was not available. If the parts that Bafang suggests, fail to correct the problem, they still wouldn't replace the defective unit. In the "about this item" that they claim a 1 year support period but they keep requesting a video of the problem. There is no statement that a video is required. If they wanted to make a repair they would have said that they would send repair items as Bafang has suggested.
I bought this kit and right away the 750c display wouldn't work right and wouldn't stay powered on unless I held down the power button which I found weird but it's unusable like this so I contacted the seller and got no response so unfortunately I had to go out and buy my own display replacement which I went for a different model this time but I really wish they would send me a replacement for the 750 still because I have plans to go to 72v in the future and the 750 display is one of the few that support that supposedly so I'll still need to get one eventually. If the seller sees this please get in contact with me and I'll change my review because other then the display issues this kit has been great. So far I've put over 700 miles on the bike with the BBSHD within maybe two months which is simply amazing to me. These have been hard miles too because I run the system pretty hard on a dual battery 52v set up and I'm eventually upgrading the controller to a asi bac type or other foc Sinewave controller and putting in the Luna cycles Ludacris steel gear inside the motor just so I don't have to worry about the nylon gear melting which surprisingly hasn't happened yet despite me running the motor in a low gear ratio at times to reach speeds of upwards of 40mph (usually this would result in the nylon gear failing after some time due to excessive heat created by the motor working so hard but I tend to keep a close eye on the temps)

The majority of the install was pretty simple. Plenty YouTube videos to follow. My complaint is the kit I purchased says it fits the 73mm tube. While it does technically fit, I would not say very well. Installing into a 73mm tube leaves few teeth for the final cap to grab on to when installing. But my biggest complaint is that the right side pedal crank is spaced properly from the lower bike frame arm. However the left crank misses the lower frame arm by about 1/8th of an inch. This gets on my OCD's nerves..... Apart from that, it pushes my fat @ss around (750 motor) no problem. I purchased a 20 amp hour 48v. Without pedal assist, I can hit 30 mph on straight land and no wind. With pedal assist I have seen 36 mph. After converting my Trek hard tail mountain bike, I have the cost of this kit (750c display, 750 watt motor) and a pricey 20Ah battery pack, I am in for a little over 1,100 dollars just for this kit and battery. I could have purchased a new bike, and let someone else do all the work for near the same price. Unless you are just bored and love tinkering (also make sure you have all the correct tools), I personally would just buy a bike and be done with it.The kit came with a crank arm puller, however you still may need the socket for removing the cranks shaft from the tube. Thanks to a local bike shop, I paid them 10 dollars to remove the cranks shaft. Also, apparently the old speed sensor used a flat head screw driver, the speed sensor that arrived with my kit came with a SECURITY star bit. Good thing I happened to have a security star bit set, or that is another tool I would have had to purchase.Security star bits have a metal dimple in the middle. Real pain if you have to purchase a security star wrench set just for this install. Oh, not near enough zip ties either. I had to use plenty of my own.

Very Powerful and fast, I was able to make it run for 35 minutes non stop on full throttle with one Dewalt flex volt battery. The speed sensor that was supposed to come with it was missing. Sometimes The motor and the screen shut off while you are using it, I have no idea why that happens. Other that I have no complaint. Over all a very nice motor. The 750w motor can go around 38 to 45 mph according to bafang.since they did not give me a speed sensor I have no idea how fast it can really go. They also gave me a head lamp to mount on the front of the bike. I connected all of the wires just to find that they had given me a light and a way to hook it up but no way to turn it on! That was too bad. So over all nice motor bad speed monitor screen and they did not send me a way to turn the headlight on. So that was how it got 4 stars. if they would have given me a speed sensor and a way to turn the head lamp on, it would have gotten five stars.
