UPDATE: It took a while, but the company did reach out to me after I posted this negative review and attempted to make things better.I was given some money back and a complimentary saddlebag. The company also offered to replace the battery, but I had discovered that the battery was fine after all. (You cannot see a charge indicated in the battery unless the key is in the battery lock and turned to the one position). The company also said they would review their manual and work on a new instructional video for putting the bike together that was a bit more detailed and easier to follow.I also hope they work on their quality control and the Customer Service you receive from the Help Line.Overall, I really enjoy the bike itself, but the road to getting it assembled has been long and frustrating. I would advise that you order a bike through a reliable bike shop or be prepared to take it to a professional shop after it arrives to get it assembled unless you are really confident in you skills to put it together or the manual and instruction video are significantly improved.I am including my original review below - including my mistake about the battery - in case someone wants to know what I was dealing with.TL:DR: The Customer Support is terrible, the product was not inspected properly before shipping, the assembly manual is not clear enough and the bike battery won't charge. The instructions for assembly are vague and difficult to follow. When I discovered a problem with the front tire and contacted Customer Support it was apparent that Heybike hires out there support and I got no help. The space in the front wheel where the front axle is supposed to pass through and attach the tire to the bike was blocked with something I could not remove. When I called Customer support the first time, there advise was basically "push harder" while trying to get the axle through. After numerous attempts and a back and forth with support I asked them to send me a new front tire. They refused, saying they didn't have any in stock and I would just have to unblock the tire myself somehow. It took 3 guys from Lowes and a electric drill to clear the tire. The bike has taken me months to put together due to one problem or another. And now it looks as if the bike battery won't charge. DO NOT buy from these people!

Seat turn around while riding, bike jerk when activate throttle plastic fenders,it's not that easy to assemble, take about 1 hour to assemble, use bike to get me here there ect.ect.

When I first got the bike it seemed nice. After about three or four months of constant commuting the cheapness of the bike came out. One day I'm riding it and the handlebars just fly off, which the wire came out of the controller box and broke it, I had to pay $100 to order a new control interface thingy. I tightened everything back up. The kickstand also was loose, and wouldn't tighten (seemed stripped). It progressively got more and more loose until it just fell off. The handlebars just flop up and down and there's no way to tighten or fix them other than just get new handlebars somewhere. The whole thing rusts quite a bit- no chrome or stainless steel or aluminum just cheap steel. Now it seems the wiring went out and the motor part of the bike won't work. I will probably need to get the whole thing rewired- motor and battery still work. The gear shifter is shimano and is pretty good. Riding the bike without the electric motor its ok- not the worst bike but not the best.If you plan to just occasionally ride this thing is should be great for you. If you are using it as daily transportation it isn't going to last more than a few months before it needs work.

First off… I literally NEVER write reviews for Amazon purchases. However, because of my experience with Heybike, I feel like I need to let others know. This was my first e-bike, and I was a little uneasy about buying something that I knew I couldn’t just drop off at Whole Foods to return it if it wasn’t what I expected. I mean, how could a bike this inexpensive actually be nice??? It came in one big box and was mostly assembled, meaning all of the gears, chain, brakes, etc were put together and ready to go. I basically just had to attach the front wheel, the handlebars, lights and pedals. (and maybe a few little pieces here and there) I am not mechanical in any way, and I was able to feel pretty confident putting it together using a video I found on YouTube as a guide. We did take it to a local bike shop just to check out all of the connections for peace of mind. After charging the battery, I was super excited to take it for a spin! It was fantastic! So much fun and very comfortable to ride. However, when I looked at the battery, it wasn’t showing a full charge. After a second ride the next day, the battery was shutting down every couple minutes. I charged it overnight and it wouldn’t even turn on. I was so mad! I sent an email to Heybike and hopped on Reddit to see if I could trouble shoot it on my own. It was the weekend, so I didn’t hear back from Heybike until Monday. They were AMAZING!!! They were super responsive, and sent out a replacement battery immediately. They also sent several follow up emails to make sure that the issue was resolved. The new battery came and it worked like a charm! It is so fun to ride along the canal trail, stop along the way for a drink, and even eat a little snack in the sun. My partner rode with me on his old beach cruiser. We switched for a little bit and he loved my new bike so much… we bought another Heybike for him two weeks later! It has now been several months and we absolutely love them! When we just ride to the bakery or to grab coffee, the battery lasts for weeks on a single charge. They are good looking, seem to be well made, and are so much fun to ride.Thank you Heybike for standing behind your product and for going above and beyond with customer service!!

We bought this bike for my wife to use during our winter vacation on a Florida barrier island. We wanted to have a second vehicle for trips on the island to stores and the pickleball courts. It was easy to transport inside the boat we tow to Florida. It arrived faster than expected in perfect condition. We weren’t home when it came; it was left in front of our garage, which is fine in our neighborhood, but I can imagine it would be tempting for package thieves in some locations. We paid for assembly which I don’t regret in the least. It was easy to make the appointment and to move it up when the bike came early. I’m sure I could have done it (or screwed it up) but it was worth having someone do it who has a lot of experience. It took him about an hour. The range is perfect for the tasks we need it for. Speed is adequate. It seems sturdy and well made. Obviously, prolonged use over time may change our view, but after a couple of weeks, she absolutely loves it. We knew nothing about electric bikes (we are Vespa owners but couldn’t bring one and the boat) and were put off by a visit to our local bike store where the cheapest model was about $2500. This bike seems to be the perfect vehicle to try out this new (tool?) without a big investment. So far, we are completely satisfied.

I was looking for a cruiser style step through bike and I didn't need to go 35 MPH. This bike is perfect. First off, it's easy to assemble - just watch the Youtube video. I was able to do it by myself and it took about an hour. Love the detachable battery as I live in a condo and have to keep the bike outside my unit. It's very attractive and solid. There are three levels of electric assist. I used level 1 and it goes around 10 MPH if you pedal. I went 10 miles like that and didn't use 10% of the battery. Second time out I used level 2, that gets up to 12 to 14 MPH if you pedal. That 15 mile trip used less than half the battery. There is a manual throttle which is helpful when you want more control over the speed. This bike is as advertised and I would buy it again!
