Below are some critical reviews about SOHOO 48V500W12Ah Step Thru Electric MountainI wanted this bike to work out for me. It is a beautiful teal color and appeared sturdy. It also appeared quite large for me once we got it assembled. When I first bought this bike on 3/15/22 the description stated the minimum height of the rider should be 5’3” and I am 5’4.5”. Seller even called me to confirm my height to make sure bike was appropriate for me. Once I received it, I finally had time to assemble it approx a week later and found that even with the seat at the lowest height it would go, the bike was still too tall for me and I could barely graze the ground with my tip toes while seated. I decided to try and ride it in front of my home in my yard thinking that it would work out for me once I try peddling. Big mistake! I nearly fell down and I could barely even get my left leg over the step through. With shoes on, I am almost 5’6” height and this bike was still too tall! So I requested a refund earlier today (3/28/22) via Amazon due to inaccurate description for minimum rider height and I also called the company to clarify the reason for my return. Hours later after this return request, the seller apparently revised the listing for this bike to minimum rider height of 5’7” and looking further down on the description part of the page, it lists 5’4” minimum height. I don’t agree with how the seller is advertising this bike with different numbers. I am supposed to receive a full refund for this inaccuracy and hope that is truly the case.
Packed very well in a sturdy box. I was impressed at the extent of the packing detail. That deserved 5 stars.The bike is well made although the paint is thin and scratches easy. No protective coating. For a guy like me, it was easy to assemble but when taking the battery out I found some white powder by the lower end of the battery case. This is battery corrosion, I hope it didn't emanate from the inside.I had to take one star away from that.750W motor is somewhat powerful yet the bike will not go more than 17MPH max, even when I set the controller to 80 (which is equivalent to 20mph).The MANUAL WAS USELESS ! The "english" was horrid at best. It made no sense. Fortunately I'm a mechanic and for me, this was an easy build without using the useless senseless manual. I deleted one star for that. In all I give it 3 stars.
The lcd display is not working correctly. It reads maximum mph error. It gives me ridiculous mph readings and the odometer says it has 4550 miles on it. Tried to contact the company via email and they just ignore me. Will probably send this bike back

I decided to get an e-bike and after doing my homework Amazon was the place to buy one. Bike shops across the country are price gouging these bikes. I looked at each model for what I wanted in a bike. The previous comments about customer service success was a huge benefit in making my decision. The rest was all up to sohoo’s designing. The bike arrived on time and the box looked really good. Upon future inspection the bike was scratched and the front brake disk was bent and was the reason the bike was scratched. I did not call customer service as the part was $10 and I replaced it myself. I had some touch up paint as well and the scratch was easy to cover. It took less than an hour to build after I stopped and got a new brake disk. It was really impressive out of the box. The battery took about 8 hours to fully charge. The cruisers claim of mph was 100% accurate. The petal assist was easy to get used to. I only use 1-3 and the placement of the switch is perfect but you can adjust for different size hands. The throttle is just like you’ve seen on a motorcycle or moped. Twist and go. So easy. The center placement of the large computer screen was a huge selling feature. Some are on the left handle bar by the grip. This back lit screen is perfect and gives you mph, shows your petal assist modes, if your head light is on, and your odometer. So user friendly. The tail light works every time you squeeze the brakes. The head light is impressive too. Customer service reached out to me before the bike ever shipped to make sure they sent me the right bike before it even left the warehouse as they have a model for taller and shorter riders. I told them I wanted the taller version like I ordered and they sent it out right away. The battery life is amazing. It’s better than advertised. I currently have 139 miles on it and it’s at 55% battery. I charged it when it was at 50% when I hit 65 miles. I’m at 139 and the battery is at the 50% mark. Outstanding. I added mirrors, a water bottle holder, and a bike carrier bag all found on Amazon. I would say the only negatives were the bent brake disk but the bike was really packaged well so it must have happened in oversea shipping. I was impressed how well it was packaged. The other was the seat the bike came with. It actually points upward and there is no adjustment to bring it level. It was not comfortable. I added a new seat and bike post all found on Amazon and under $30 and now it’s perfect. Other than those two call outs this bike is amazing. I will be purchasing the smaller version(step through) in the light green for my wife so we can enjoy these bikes together. This was one of my best purchases this year and after my home work and all the great comments by other owners it was a no brainer. Thanks sohoo!!!
I found this bike myself and my husband thought the specs were good, so we ordered it without seeing it in person.The seller, who is in Chino ,California called and said we could pick up the bike fully put together, so we picked it up. Later that afternoon I rode it about seven miles and it was great.I love the beach cruiser style, but the tires are good for some dirt as well. I am 5'5" and the height is perfect. I even raised the seat up a little bit so it would be more comfortable using the pedals.We rode twelve miles round trip the following day and I still had battery left and most of the sixe miles back was uphill and I constantly used the battery which was nice.We put the settings to the maximum of 25 miles per hour and I think I got up to 22 mph a few times.I am happy I chose this model and I like where the battery is located. It is easy to remove and I think the bike handles great .I would definitely recommend this e-bike.
Packaging is an extraordinary protection of contents and notable. Shipped coast to coast with no damage or bent fenders. Two important issues with quality: 1) disks for disk breaks seam far too thin and I expect they will bend or even warp with temperature and use in short time, and 2) derailleur and rear brake was not factory adjusted correctly - I could only shift through 4 gears out of the seven. Seller language and accent barrier was thick. Communication on anything beyond obvious statements were exceedingly difficult.With all hub motor e-bikes, the torque bears on the spokes, so be sure to routinely check. These arrived just fine, but use and load from hills and/or weight WILL loosen spokes over time. There is no Class sticker on these bikes, if your state requires such. I am 5'7-1/2 to 5'8", and this bike is uncomfortably too high for me, but just marginally workable. I wobble considerably to get started, every time. I thought I could just replace seat post to drop it just one more inch, but the post diameter is far larger than those on the market. I'm looking for some kind of spacer, but it would have to be like a 1/4 thick (no standard insert or adapter will fit). Also, the step through is kind of high, so dress accordingly, lol. Assembly was easy enough for me to do; but I will need a bike shop to adjust the gear shifting and brakes - a cost I did not anticipate for a brand new bike.Motor & battery work fine and as described. 500 watts is fine for flat roadways at the sea shore, and more than enough power for US speed limitation (20 mph). Stock, mine topped out at 17 mph by their GPS unit, and 16 mph by a second one for comparison. (they typically read about 1/2 - 1 mph different) And it makes the motor lighter than a 750 W which is max size for my state. One typical young male's power is about 250 W equivalent, and 745 Watts is equal to one HP. So you and the motor might have about one horse power combined, but for me it is less and still it is just fine. With a Cruiser bike, you are sitting more upright and will not have the peddle power of a road bike, but it is far more relaxing and I did not want to be bent over so much when riding - and the motor more than makes up for the peddle power difference. I expect to still be able to use the higher, harder to peddle gears with the motor, once I get the derailleur adjusted properly. I don't know if the suspension will help with the big bumps, but for the little, more constant bumps, it does little to nothing. I may go to the lowest recommended tire pressure and try that. There is a lever on the front shocks to fix the front forks or use the suspension. I don't think that is mentioned in the description. Also this frame is far more substantial than a regular bicycle, so a lot of aftermarket things might not fit. I just do not know if replacement parts will be an issue as parts do not seem to be standard sizes (if you can get parts from this seller, it may be the only source and who knows how long they will be around.Frankly, I am far more stable on my old road bike, but until I get a suitable seat post, I will not claim the bike is unstable - I need a better fit before it is fair to judge, but my suspicions are up, lol. Notably, I told the seller I expected to have to somehow replace the seat post, and now I found out that is harder than it sounds, I read someone else's review that the seller has one. They sure did not inform me or offer one to me. Some people at 5'7" will have longer legs, and some will have longer torsos. Still, that one inch would have made a huge difference on comfort and stability!! (Stock seat post has a spring "suspension" that makes the seat about an inch higher than the frame, minimum).Basically, the more precise and/or grammatically correct your English is, the more difficult communications are. A purchaser is forced to make assumptions about what the vendor means, instead of what is actually said. Assumptions mean everything communicated carries risk of many misunderstandings, so any problems are amplified, and personally, I found frustrating and unproductive.
