Reviews

Below are some critical reviews about Electric TotGuard Bicycles Removable Suspension

Buyer Beware before purchasing . Battery is "Wartime New Energy Co. Ltd" with a model number of "WT0230" Search for replacement battery before purchasing 48v-10A model T-276 27&1/2 inch TotGuard ebike. ( I am still Looking for a replacement Battery . ( I wonder if battery style is even available on the market and if seller knows it is not ? ). Battery Information should of been posted upfront on sellers page ( -1 star for lack of important information on "Advertisement Page"). The Computer for selecting power assist reads in highest power assist at 39.8mph while the same speed traveling in mid power assist selection reads it at 22mph. Big discrepancy in the reading of traveling speed. ( No star deduction for this as seller does provide a PDF file that attempts to explain how to set the computer control of the bike. Thank You Seller for this important information. ) . Front Forks are leaking. Like a motor cycle or any other motorized Bike, this posses a serious health risk to the rider. ( I contacted the seller and awaiting a response ). If the battery does not remove easily , make sure you turn the key counter clockwise to disengage the lock. You may have to step on pedal and use both hands to lift and pull the battery upwards towards the front of the bike. This is due to the mounting plate not being properly set in the plastic holder by the manufacturer before shipping to be sold. the mounting plate can be adjusted up or down by loosening the three Philips screws ( first check for marks on the mounting plate where the locking pin is binding. I have not adjusted mine yet, but I see marks where it looks like this plate was used or screwed on wrongly and then screwed on properly afterwards ) . I am wondering if the Brake switches are even wired in as when I engage the brakes , the motor continues to push me forward for 2 seconds before disengaging ( Yes I stop pedaling when I engage the brakes ) . I am looking over the PDF files to see if there is adjustments in the computer for that, just in case the wires are actually connected and it be the computer not set properly . I will update my review about Seller's response on bad front forks and if and when I can find a replacement battery. as for the PDF instructions I need to read more concerning the computer settings. over all though, it does not seem like a bad bike.Update :Seller Responded quickly within 24 hours. Leaky Forks is just excess grease packed around the Sweeps of the forks. I would suggest to anyone that has never rebuilt the forks on their bike to watch some videos on it. At some point the seals are going to need replacing along with replacing of the oil inside . Although I am still surprised that the sweeps allow grease to slip by. If this was a motor cycle I would be very concerned. The PDF the Seller provides on the lower part of the page was handy for setting up the computer .I find the front drive train to be a little to small when in power assist . I prefer to pedal a little slower with applying a little more leg power at a steady pace. So I will be looking to change out the front drive train with larger. I Noticed 2 days ago that the TotGuard Ebike official site was completely gone ( that is a bit concerning, So no help support can be relied upon by TotGuard.)Update #2:Ok just gave up looking for information about the parts used on this bike. It is suppose to have a Shimano drive train , but the only things marked shimano are the derailleurs and shifting levers. No Shimano markings what so ever on the the front Chain rings that I can find or back chain ring cassette. Brakes are another thing which there is no markings on what the brakes are in order to determine which brake pads fit it . Battery is still a mystery . Even though the seller did send me a link as a sample link for a battery , the link he sent me is not for a battery that will fit the holder ( which holder contains the motor driver circuit.). Front forks I was advised are not the type you would have serviced when they wear down from normal use. In Short - Disposable Forks , bottom of barrow forks ( but none the less , i will see what will fit the forks for basic maintenance replacement parts. ) I am dropping the updated rating of this bike down to a 2. Bike is a good little bike , but without Absolute part information being listed and the night mare to find the information , I have found it to be far easier to find parts for a cheap Chinese 50cc or 150cc GY6 scooter than it is to find out what Frankenstein miss matched parts are are used to build this bike. For a Long Term Bike, this bike may or may not be a suitable solution , Especially with No real information provided about parts being used And with the Official TotGuard Ebikes web site now being no longer on the internet, Does legitimately raise serious questions and concerns when purchasing this Bike. Again I also Hold Sellers of products that lack real need to know information just as much responsible , only because it is a Bad Business practice to sell a product you know almost nothing about ( Or Do not share with your customers on the Advertisement page of the product all relevant data . Lack or Relevant Data by a company or seller shows the spirit of such to be a middle finger directed at your customers ( A heart that does not mind screwing the customer over to make a sale).

Update: I left the bike sitting for a few weeks and the batter is now completely dead. I put the bike up fully-charged and never had any problems with the battery and within a few months of getting the bike, the battery is totally dead and won't take a charge. I'm currently waiting to hear from the seller to see if they can remedy this situation.---Older Review: I have been very impressed with this bike. The battery life so far seems excellent. It has really good performance and came out of the box 90% assembled - even the gearing setup was pretty spot on and didn't need adjustment. The brakes are not the best, but they do work. The bike is quite speedy at around 22mph top speed which is plenty. You really shouldn't be going any faster than that around streets and neighborhoods. Acceleration is peppy. There are some quirks.. there's no good manual on how the electric portion of the bike works.. you just have to figure it out. There are no modes to select between power-assist or not. Power assist is either on or off. You can set 3 different speeds which basically set the engine at 3 specific rates of speed regardless of gearing. It's not very versatile in that respect. But it does the job. I will update this review in the future as I have more time on the bike.

Packaging was ripped all thew away across box and ends were ragged. I was afraid the bike might be damaged but it was not. The battery mount on the bike has obviously been used or remounted. You can see where the screws had been prior to being moved. Not just minor marks, these were gouges in the metal. I am very concerned that I am getting something was used or at the very least remounted or taken off another bike.. That being said, the bike itself did not look used. Assembly was easy. Instructions on how assemble, use bike or display power control are non existent..... unless mine fell out of the badly ripped open box. there is a video for assembly. BUT, the bike itself works great and has a lot of assist power if needed. I reached out to amazon about my concern of the used part... on the chat line... they did not fully understand my concern but did offer a promotional credit to my account.

Below are some positive reviews about Electric TotGuard Bicycles Removable Suspension

Im 6' 285lb and was worried a 500w motor wouldn't be enough. Assembly was not terrible, but I had to make several adjustments for the location of the shifters and brakes locations. Also needed to move the LCD display towards the center more to put a mirror on the left side. The shifter on the left was impeded by the location of the brake lever, so twisting the brake lever away finally allowed the shifter to go to the highest gear sprockets on the front. There needs to be better programming instructions for the LCD management system, they only tell you a couple basics, but There is more going on than the instructions manual eludes to. My biggest complaint was that the battery charge indicators ON THE BATTERY did not work. push the raised button and none of the LED lights functioned. Put it on the bike, still nothing. turn on the battery switch, still nothing, turn on the LCD DISPLAY, and the power indicator on the LCD display showed full power but the indicators on the battery were still dead. The bike worked fine, drove it through the different modes, 1,2,3... and used my phones GPS SPEEDOMETER app to guage the true speed. The SPEEDOMETER On the controller tops out at 21mph, but the bike actually went to 28mph on a slight to level incline. So its not really limiting at 21mph. After messing with holding down menu buttons and such, i lost the power display reading on the controller, but it did show the assist level. Strange that I lost the LCD power meter level, so I stopped and checked the led light meter on the battery by pressing the button again, but this time IT was working and the LCD was not. There must be a programmable combination that allows both to function and I just haven't stumbled across it. APPARENTLY there is a P5 setting you can access by pressing the +- buttons at the same time and toggling through to p5 which allows a voltage display. I'll monkey with that tomorrow. Other than that, I like the bike, I did buy a bigger seat and a handle bar extension to raise the bar height. Bike is a 27" about as big as they get, still feels a little small, but it works. Shifter was smooth and easy, brakes were easy to adjust on the handle bars meaning they weren't that far off from what the factory set them at. Its really not a bad purchase. I also filled the tires with FLAT OUT after watching dozens of ebike people complaining of flat tires, patching and replacing tubes. Apparently the FLAT OUT has stopped that from becoming a habit. Im assuming its the cheap chinese bike tires causing that. So far its a go for this chungas rider.

It was great ride for the first three months. No complaints at all and all of a sudden the motor started making noises and I had to return this one. I'm sure it would be a one time issue and over all its a great deal for the money

I have had this bike for just over a month now and just crossed 100 miles on it. I was surprised how many miles you put on an ebike but its just so easy to ride this thing forever. I'm 300lbs and the 500W motor is more than enough power to get my up any hill with just a bit of pedaling. It could do it on throttle alone, but it would be very slow on steep hills. I like to pedal and I have only had to charge it once since I got it. It will easlily get 50miles to the charge if you pedal. This bike is big! My wife is 5'4" and its a challenge for her to ride it. I'm 5'11" and its fine for me. The seat it comes with is not comfortable at all and you should replace it right away. I also added a handle bar riser which has made it much more comfortable. I have had to adjust the brakes a few times to tighten them up. I have started to notice that the gears are shifting when I'm pedealing so I think I need to adjust that as well but not quite sure how to do that yet. You are basically getting a fairly standard bike that is e-enabled but seems to work well so far.
