Below are some critical reviews about BAFANG Chainring Electric Brushless BicicletaOverall, the mid-drive motor does what it is supposed to do and has plenty of power. There are a few things that could make it better. They could make the peddle assist at level 1 a little less powerful. On a flat I have to be going about 16mph to feel any resistance on the peddles. Below that I might as well use the throttle and not peddle. I would like to start feeling peddle resistance at 10 mph at level 1. It would make it safer in crowded pedestrian environments. Blasting past pedestrians gives E-Bikes a bad rep. It would also be nice if they came up with an easy way to shorten the wires. I have loops of cable dangling below the handlebars. Lastly the front sprocket that came with the 1000watt motor pushed was pushed too far from the bike frame causing the chain to derail when shifting to the climbing gears. The front sprocket and the climbing gears were badly misaligned. I’ve ordered a different sprocket with a greater “offset” in hopes of solving the problem.
After doing much research , as I’m sure you’ve done before making a purchase for a diy e-bike kit, I settled on this bafang 750 mid drive. It’s actually pretty awesome. Not as refined as some higher end systems out of the box but definitely good enough for me! Good- torque, speed , ease of interface and control. Install is straight forward. The reason for 2 stars is the fact that the factory FORGOT to thread the crank shaft sprocket hub!! After about a minute of trying to start the first bolt to secure the chain ring, pulled it and found that not a one had been tapped with threads. For most, this is a - gotta send it back and get another- situation, that’s probably what I should have done, but I figured I’d go ahead and tap them since I had the correct size on hand. Of course I broke the tap in the last hole so there’s that. Seems to solid enough otherwise.The wire management takes some time to route and secure depending on your liking and how invisible or integrated you want it to be. Having some various size of heat shrink will aid in this.Having installed this on a recumbent helped to use the excess wire/cable lengths.This is paired with an UPP 15amp battery. The motor came with the xt60 connector, changes this to the Anderson power pole pigtail that came along with the UPP battery. Keep that in mind if a different battery is used. Also had to solder in extra wire to the battery.Had to install the speed sensor and magnet On the front wheel due to cable length ( again this is due to the added length of frame )All in all, I think it’ll be a great addition, it sucked that the jailed weren’t tapped but it worked out- for me- order some extra chain links for your chain type and a chain breaker to have on board at all times. If you break a chain without them, your walking home.
The motor is working alright, but even though I did all the measurements and got the kits that was supposed to work for my bike, I need another spacer, so there's some wobble and makes tuning the shifter almost impossible. Because they are adamant that people contact them directly, and not got through Amazon, I contacted customer service and they told me what I need is out of stock, I asked if they could send one when it comes into stock and they responded said I can ask again later and hope for better.Also, the sensor included for determining speed isn't compatible with a cargo bike.

I bought this for my wife's bicycle early last summer and waited 6 mos. before writing a review. The install was straightforward with help from YouTube videos and having the motor on the bicycle is amazing. My wife enjoys riding with us again and I don't think we'll ever go back.INSTALL:The kit seemed to include everything needed, but we found that on her bicycle (2007 Schwinn 700c Pathway series) the rear rack wouldn't clear the seat when in its lowest position, so I made some aluminum brackets to re-position the rack back about 1" on the frame. I also installed a small plastic bottle under the hub to conceal the extra length of wiring and used some protective woven cord sleeve and some Legrand Cordmate C10 wireway with sticky back to secure wiring below the frame for a clean almost factory look.USE:1. Amazing Power – This mid-drive motor tackles big hills with ease. The hub drive bike we rented on a vacation recently struggled on similar hills.2. Shifting gears – She seldom shifts gears and typically stays in the same gear and power setting for the entire ride, but we found that shifting gears with the hub motor needs to be a planned event (only shift gears under light peddle pressure) Conversely, shifting gears on the hub drive (even under load) was seamless since it operates separately from the gears.3. Battery – it’s quite heavy and when installed up high on the rear rack changes the balance of the bike making it unsuitable for mountain biking. It is at its best on paved trails where the balance of the bike isn’t subject to abrupt changes. We purchased the larger size battery which appears to be quite a bit more than we needed. I borrowed her bicycle recently for a 40-mile ride on a gravel trail which only depleted the battery by 1-bar even riding fast on a medium-high assist setting leaving me thinking that the smaller size battery would’ve been a better choice for our typically casual riding style.4. Controller – I bought the small controller, which may have been a mistake. It fits on the handlebar nicely, but it’s difficult for her to see the power setting.5. Overall Summary - She loves it, the Bafang 750w mid drive motor has power to spare and even the steepest hills disappear. Long rides are effortless, and she has no trouble keeping up with the rest of the group. We have to remind her to slow down so the rest of us can catch up sometimes she only grins and leaves us in the dust.
It's been almost a month since I purchased this kit and so far, I am generally very satisfied with my purchase. The motor is excellent, the battery is a quality build (Panasonic cells), the installation was easy. The kit was complete with no missing parts and shipped in a timely fashion within the given time frame and the vendor was very helpful and accommodating so far.My only disappointment was with the display unit (DPC18). Don't get me wrong, it is a very nice unit, however when i researched it on the net prior to my purchase, videos and articles I've seen mentioned that PAS level can be set to 0-3, 0-5 or 0-9 depending on how fine you want to tune your pedal assist. I was surprised to see that my display had the PAS level pre-set to 0-5 and cannot be changed. When I contacted the vendor about this i was told that their listing specifies that the PAS level is 0-5 on the DPC18. They are right, I simply missed that detail on one of the listing pictures. Apparently BAFANG changed this display to support only 5 assist levels. Older versions supported 9. So if you want to modify default assist values to your style of riding using a special USB cable (that you can buy separately), how do you know which 5 of the 9 available levels this display picks from the motor. I asked the question to the vendor and they replied with a chart of PAS mappings for 3, 5 or 9 assist levels of the motor to the display. Turns out a display (DPC18 in this case) with a fixed 5 PAS levels, actually maps levels 0,2,4,6,8 and 9 from the motor. So, by programming these assist levels with the USB cable, one can customize PAS to their liking.When it comes to the performance of the motor, it is torquey, fast and very quiet. Good torque to zip through intersections very quickly, and to climb up the steepest hills without breaking a sweat, and it's also fast on flat terrain. I can reach 48-50kmh (31mph) on flat terrain with the 48v, 17.5ah battery. That's way above the legal e-Bike speed limit where I live. Although fast is exciting, I would suggest being easy with the throttle on a bicycle. Battery range is also excellent if you go easy with speed and PAS. Can’t give you an exact number as this will change substantially depending on your style of riding.All in all, you can't go wrong with this purchase, especially from this vendor. My previous attempt to buy this kit had turned into a problem with another dishonest seller, so it is important to pick the right vendor for a happy ending.
Title says it all. If you need a motor, a motor controller, and a battery for any small personal e-vehicle you have in mind, this kit packs a punch for a great price. The most cost-effective way to get e-moving, imo.
