Below are some critical reviews about Manhattan Toy Winkel Sensory Teether

My baby was a big fan of this product for a while! We forgot about it as she got more mobile, but got back out as she is getting her canine teeth. No issues for a few days, but one day one of the green tubes came loose, and the tiny piece of plastic connecting the tube to the cube in the center was broken. Thankfully she didn't swallow that tiny piece of plastic, but I feel that others should be aware of this products possible choking hazard.

Baby seems really interested, but...the washing instructions state: "Do not submerge in water. Do not clean in dishwasher, sanitizer, or microwave. Surface wash w/damp cloth dipped in soapy water, then follow w/a towel dipped in plain water. Or wipe down with baby-safe wipes." I don't know too many mothers who have time for this. Little baby toys should be easy to clean for a variety of reasons.

This is one of the toys that I purchased in 2017 for my baby girl based on thousands of excellent reviews. She didn’t want to play with it at all, zero interest. I thought, ok, will keep it for my second one. Second girl came in 2019. I introduced the toy at 4 months, again, zero interest. Only after that I inspected the toy myself, I tried to even bite it. Horrible feeling, no wonder why my kids didn’t want have nothing to do with it. I’m happy though that other kids and parents like it do much.

My little guy loves this toy. When he was born I had it hanging above the changing table... not really on purpose, just as a place to store it. Well, he loved staring at it from day 2! Around 8 weeks he started to swing at it so I got it down for him. He couldn't officially grab it, but could stuck his hands through the loops (on accident probably) and move the toy to his face and try to bite it. Now at 16 weeks he grabs it off the floor next to him, passes it between his hands, "chews" on it, etc. He will play with it for 5 minutes without my intervention. It travels well as you can smash it down at it bounces back to full shape when you pull it out of the bag. We also throw it in the car seat with him for some easy entertainment with no worries that he will suffocate against it choke on it or anything. The square block in the middle rattles quietly. I wish it was a bit louder, as the noise is so quiet that my little guy doesn't even to take notice of it. It is less "rattle" and more of just a ball toy.My friend warned me NOT to put it in the dishwasher - she melted hers. I just wash it with hot soapy water... or sometimes clean it off with paci wipes if he drops it on the go.I'll probably buy a toy lanyard for it so we can prevent drops on the go!

My 4 month old son LOVES this toy! It is great for his teething and he can hold on to it easily. Even throw it across the room, haha!Update: My son is now 6 months old and still loves this toy. It is the first toy he became actively engaged in and began grabbing with two hands. Great to encourage him for some fun tummy time. Still loving it!

EDIT: I'm updating this review because we returned the faulty product and purchased another one - only using hot water to clean. While you can't sterilize it, this is a FANTASTIC toy that your baby simply can not hurt themselves with (they like to flail with toys), and that they will most certainly adore. Our boy is 9 months old, and this remains one of our go-to toys for him still.OLD REVIEW: This toy is supposed to be a teething product. As any parent of any child knows, when a baby is putting something in their mouth you are going to want to sanitize it. I placed this in our microwave steam sanitizer, as there is absolutely nothing written on any of the packaging that says this is not microwave safe or sanitizing safe. Take a look at the attached photo for the results. We tried to sanitize this before he could even use it, and ended up with a Jackson Pollock toy.
