Below are some critical reviews about Logitech Gaming Backlit Programmable ButtonsI wanted to love this mouse. It feels great in hand and when it works it is amazing. Problem is that the software it uses is from 2013 and there are many bugs with it. In my case if I set a button up to use G it works for 30 mins and then stops working till i turn off the computer. You might ask “well isnt that a defective product then?” Technically yes but if I change that same button to work with H then it will work for another 30 mins then stop. I have contacted logitech email support and recieved an email saying “we are working to change our customer support please email back to this email or your case will be closed”. So i email back and big surprise my case was closed the next day. I then call amazon support who gives me their support number. I call it and tell them my problem. Im told to wait while im transfered to a different rep. After 5 mins I got hung up on without talking to the other rep. Less than 5 mins later I already had my return label printed.I wanted to love this mouse as it feels and looks great, but the support and the constant problems ruined it for me. Maybe if they fixed the software that was last updated in 2013 the mouse would actually work.
I got this for Final Fantasy XIV. The problems started as soon as I plugged it into my computer. Because this is an older mouse, it DOES NOT work with the newer G Hub software (apparently this has been a problem for years but Logitech refuses to fix it). Every time I tried to launch G Hub with the mouse plugged in, it would crash my computer. After some googling, I found that you're *supposed* to use the older Logitech Gaming Software (which Logitech does still provide for download). So I uninstalled G Hub, installed LGS, and it picked up the new mouse no problem.The software has built in profiles for several games including Final Fantasy XIV, Far Cry 5, Terraria and others, as well as standard tweaks for adjusting the lighting and DPI. The DPI by default is an INCREDIBLY slow 400dpi and despite "on the fly DPI switching" being advertised, you can only change it through software. The old software mind you, not the new software Logitech tells you to use on their own website. So anyway, I got everything up and running and things were fine for a couple weeks. Then the mouse started acting up.You know how on websites, if you click the middle mouse wheel you're able to free scroll? That stopped working. Right click also started acting strange in certain programs. For example, in MusicBee (a program akin to old iTunes), if you right click a song it brings up a menu to edit songs, add to playlists, etc. The right click stopped doing that and would instead play the song, or restart it if the song was already playing. The only way to fix these problems is to close out LGS, which puts my mouse back in its default state, slow DPI and everything.But the best was when it caused a DirectX crash in Final Fantasy XIV. I'd been having strange audio glitches for a while (I'd get on a mount and the music wouldn't play immediately, leading to a couple seconds of dead silence). When I got the DirectX crash, I googled the error code and a lot of people were saying it was from Windows enhanced audio issues. So I booted the game up, and there was no sound on the title screen. I opened up the Windows sound settings and for some reason, the default audio device had been changed from the speakers TO THE MOUSE.So yeah, avoid this mouse at all costs. If you want a good Logitech mouse, the G502 is great, but it's not meant for MMOs so you'll need to look elsewhere. Also the cable isn't braided, which just feels extra cheap.
I think this mouse could be amazing but theres a huge problem with it. My key bindings while Im playing games just randomly glitch out on me and switch to something else. For example if I have a key binding set on the mouse as num 1 then I hit it in the game it will work for the most part, but then out of no where and sometimes it starts hitting a different key binding such as shift + num 1. This gets really annoying and now sometimes when I'm typing out stuff certain letters erase everything I've typed out. If this wasn't a problem I would love this mouse and the software

Flash forward: it’s 2019. No longer do I play World of Warcraft like a job, raiding hardcore for 40+ hours a week and selling Challenge Mode carries on the side. If you don’t understand what I’m talking about, let me explain.I have used this mouse for FIVE. YEARS. DAILY. I have spilled coffee on this mouse, Monster energy drinks on this mouse, water on this mouse; this mouse swam every day as if it lived in a luxury hot tub but it was really just my desk.This is a gaming mouse, yes, but as a gamer let me just tell you that there’s a difference between “gaming” hardware and then gaming hardware that actually delivers and is built to last for what you’re doing.I’m not talking about logging in on League of Legends or Overwatch once or twice a week. I’m not talking about Call of Duty, Fortnite, or whatever everyone’s into these days. I’m talking about using this mouse constantly for a minimum of 8 hours per day, every day, 5-7 days a week. For years. This mouse was built to LAST.I’ve had about 3 of these mice in this timespan. Not because they broke; they NEVER did. It’s just that after you own anything for more than a few years, especially after spilling various drinks on it, it just gets junky after a while. (You know...finger grease, bent cords, etc). I replaced this mouse on my own accord when I felt like treating myself - NEVER because I “had to”. Because I didn’t.I don’t endorse many things in my life, but so help me, if you need a dependable mouse that you can rely on for years, THIS. IS. IT. 👏🏻.I now live in my house with my boyfriend (whom I met off WoW... I know, yikes) and though we no longer competitively play games anymore, we still use this mouse for our computers. My entire life has gone into its next chapter and one of the only consistent factors in it has been this mouse. That’s wild.My friends (guildies) have all gotten married and had kids, I’m still flying out to another one’s wedding later this year, so much of our lives have changed in incomprehensible ways. But Logitech never changed what they did, and I guess I’m not only reviewing this product but also thanking them for creating such a simple item that gives me so many fantastic memories. So this replaced the mouse every one says ripped this G600 mouse off, and yeah I can see that, but both are really good gaming mouses, getting this one after three or so years of use of the venus, left click started to loose its click hold, it would of been a easy fix but decided I wanted something new, and as for the G600 compared?Well it is the better mouse in my opinion, but not by much so if you don't want to spend as much, the Venus is perfectly fine and well worth the money, where the G600 is better is quality, the parts do feel like they'll last longer,I like the ring finger extra button over the to the left of the left click mouse button on the Venus mouse, one thing I was worried about switching to the G600, is that I like my gaming mouses heavy, I used all the weights in the Venus gaming mouse, thankfully the G600 is as heavy or barely noticeably lighter then the Venus mouse,Really the only thing I liked the Venus mouse more over the G600, is the size, I have large hands, glove size large some times are a little tight but that should give you an idea, anyways, the utechsmart venus mouse is slightly larger then the G600, it also has a thumb rest which I like but because the G600 is smaller, my palm doesn't rest as much on the G600, making my wrist rest more so on the mouse pad which can be uncomfortable, but raising my chair fixed that.Was it worth the price difference? mmm, at this moment it being $3, sure, though $39 is still pretty high for a gaming mouse, heh unless your a Razor fan boy, anyways, I'm happy with my purchase, though we'll see if the G600 lasts as long as the Utechsmart Venus mouse.
I can't even begin to describe how useful this is for me. It has more buttons than I know what to do with, which is a very good thing.I'm just going to throw this out there, I don't use this mouse for it's intended market. That is, MMOs. I don't play any MMOs. What I /do/ do, is use Blender and Unity in the process of learning to build games. Blender alone has what feels like millions of shortcuts to memorize, and while I've gotten all the main ones down, I like using a normal mouse and a 3D Navigator at the same time. That keeps my hands off the keyboard. Which makes switching between the keyboard, mouse, and 3D Navigator... Annoying. This mouse solves that by keeping a large number of shortcuts in the mouse memory. This saves me time and effort allowing me to keep my hands off the keyboard and still get work done quickly.I will say, I've found one single downside to this mouse. If I assign a key to a button (like SHIFT) and hold that button down, it doesn't keep the button pushed down in the interface. Holding shift on the keyboard will let me select multiple faces, vertices, or edges. Holding shift on an assigned button on the mouse, does literally nothing. I'd like it if the software let me say that I wanted the button to be held, or maybe gave me a "sticky key" option.Oh well, minor complaint. Another minor complaint is that the mouse is lightweight. This works fine for when I need to stick it in my laptop bag and don't want a lot of weight, but I tend to prefer weighted mice like the Proteus Core (which I also have, loaded as heavy as it can be), but this is a very minor complaint.
