Below are some positive reviews about Redline Bicycles SQB 26 GreyThe bike is fantastic... The chain is downright dangerous.So I bought a used late 80's RL20-b as a kid. It was the first bike I ever built, the only childhood bike I truly loved, and the only bike that was ever stolen from me. I've never forgotten it, and always wanted another. Recently one came up on CL... I was really tempted to build another like my first, but being 6'2", and 35 years old, I thought I should look for a more practical ride...The Redline Sqb-26 did not disappoint. It rides like a true bmx. It feels smooth, rides terrific, and sounds fantastic. I did however change out the pedals, because I find Odyssey Triple Traps more comfortable to ride with Vans.The ONE downfall is the chain. A week into riding her, there were two loud bangs about a half second apart. I came to find it was two consecutive links in the chain detonating. I wasn't really pushing the bike at the time, and the chain tension was perfect. Luckily the chain held together by the inside links, or I likely would've been hurt pretty bad. I upgraded to an Izumi Jet Black, and I'm now back to riding... If you buy this, I very much recommend replacing it before riding. For around 20 bucks, you can pick up a stronger chain, and a decent chain tool. The internet has tons of videos on how to do it, and it's only a few minute job.UPDATE: Just figured I'd update this with how she looks now... Flipped the stem, and changed it a couple more parts... Still rides like a dream. I still want to pick up a PL-26 to park next to it.
PROS (in my subjective opinion)• Easy to assemble• Arrived in excellent condition• Packaged well.• Quality parts• Classic/vintage/throwback-to-the-1980's design• Smooth ride• Fast• Comfortable• Fun• Very sturdy• Stylish and minimalistic look that stands out from other 26" big BMX bikes• Painted-on graphics, logos, and script instead or decals/stickers• Nice welds/welding work• Tektro brakes (they work well)• Quick release for seat post• 3-piece Flight Pedals• Bear claw pedals (stylish & durable)• Seat/saddle is solid/decent and is much better (style & comfort-wise) than the seat/saddle that comes with the Redline PL-26, but I still put a gel cover on it anyway (pictured)• I like the "things" that hold the break cable & cable housing in place beneath the top tube. It looks good and keeps the cable out the way.• "V"-shaped handle bars are a nice touch although I am contemplating changing them to put my own touch on the bike.CONS (in my subjective opinion)• Grips aren't the most comfortable; however, they are attractive (not pictured, but I swapped mine out.).• Chain tensioners work well but they aren't most attractive or best on the market (I swapped mine out)• Bear claw pedals (potentially can scrape your shins and calves)• Would have been a nice touch if Redline Bicycles included a padset and custom schrader valve stem caps.VERDICT (in my subjective view)• An excellent bike and definitely worth taking a look at (with the intention to purchase) if you're in the market for a 26" BMX bike. I am having fun cruising and "BMXing" with it.
Nice bike!Fits like a BMX did when I was a kid. Took 15 min to finish the assembly. Rode for a quick 6 mile ride with minimal chain slack adjustment. Rode smooth, good quality, the cranks it comes with were sought after in my neighborhood growing up.Definitely my new go to bike for neighborhood rides and goofing around when I don't feel like going to a trail with the MTB bike. Looks way more natural riding than rockin my old 20" bikes around town.
