Reviews

Below are some critical reviews about P3 Cycles Nexus 3 Speed Urban

Very light frame, large size was comfortable for me (5’11 200lbs). The components are basic but usable, I will probably be upgrading the front brake as it is the only means of slowing down. My main critique is that the gear ratio is set very high - I almost never used third until I replaced the rear cog with a 19 tooth. Now it climbs a little better, and third is still very fast on the flats.

Most 3 speed IGH bicycles are set up with extras that add weight, like racks and fenders etc. While these items can also be added to this bike, it has been created to be minimalist and much lighter in weight in comparison. An old school Raleigh sports model I have from the 1970's weighs in at 36 pounds, while a more modern 3 speed from Pure City weighs 31 pounds, for example. The P3 cycles version weighs in at 26.8 pounds, even after I customized it with an upgraded Brooks saddle and larger handlebars. I also changed my rear sprocket to be best suited for my local hills, although the gearing it came with would work for riding on flat terrain. Nice to have an easy to customize, simple, and fairly light three speed errand bike during these times of parts shortages that have put some other rides out of commission.

The bike had issues breaking so I had to replace the breaking calipers, pads and install new ones on the back since it did not come with one, I also replace the stem since it was a little to short for me. I nearly killed my self going down a hill on my first ride assuming the bike will stop I used my shoe as a break (the shoe was ruined) I would not recommend buying this bike unless you install new break calipers and pads before your first ride
