Below are some critical reviews about Mountain 21 Speed Bicycle Dual Suspension CommuterAvoid this bike - it is not sturdy construction. One small crash over a speed bump led to complete irrecoverable damage front to back, the wheel even came off.
I have 35 miles in on the bike and the chain broke in half while under way on flat and level, paved conditions. The seat was very uncomfortable and I had to replace after the third ride with a better saddle. This is an economy bike and you should buy understanding that.
Below are some positive reviews about Mountain 21 Speed Bicycle Dual Suspension Commuter
Pros:- looks really nice (black)-Frame feels substantial- majority of components are decent quality- rear shock seems pretty good- rides niceCons:- the pedals are cheap plastic dont trust them to hold up on a hardcore trail-Front fork is meh not much travel to it but its what you would probably expect at this priceOverall a pretty good value would upgrade the pedals if planning to do anything outside of light casual riding
I'll start with the positives. The bike came well packaged, no punctures in box and all parts accounted for, though one of the nuts to the reflector lights is fortunate to not have been lost during shipping. I found it in the bottom of the box. Not sure how it got loose, but that's a close call. I mention the shape of the box only because my wife purchased her bike on ebay last week and it came from FedEx with the wheel hanging out of the box and punctures all over the box. Hers was a Roadmaster...not sure that matters, but kudos to the shipper of my bike for getting it here without any damage. The color in the pictures don't do this bike justice! It's beautiful. The blue is what you'd expect but the orange is kind of like a satin fluorescent. This bike pops and I love it! The bike feels solid, went together pretty easy, but here comes the two negatives I have about it. First, the front tire wobbles like no other. I'm not a bike mechanic so I don't intend to get the little tool that tightens and loosens the spokes, but I saw a YouTube video that suggested the spokes needed adjusting. That sucks guys. I get the bike comes 85% assembled, but if you took the time to mount the rubber, take the time to verify it doesn't wobble before sending it my way. Second, the rear wheel came assembled, but no time taken to adjust the brakes? It's annoying adjusting these brakes, and it's the first pain in the...well it's the first source of aggravation for me from the bike. If you're a bike mechanic or know how to adjust out the wobble and also adjust your own disc brakes, you won't have a care in the world with this. It's a great bike for the money, and the comparable Roadmaster budget bike my wife got came in way worse shape with even all of the stickers on her bike having the top clear layer coming apart. Pretty sure her tires don't wobble though...One more thing, I tried finding out where HH Hiland is made. It's made in China. The seller refuses to answer my question publicly and no other buyers have answered, so I'll add it to my post. See attached photos.
What a great bike for the money. The frame is solid and it rides super nice. I love the fact that it is powder coated and not shiny.
