It arrived with a bent spoke, coming out of rim on the front tire. I emailed the company on 3/23/2021 and it is now 4/6/2021 and I've heard absolutely nothing. A minor repair perhaps, but for what I paid, an answer/resolution to my problem would be nice. Mongoose itself is a pretty solid bike and it looks great. Was a bit disappointed on how it arrived and even more disappointed I cannot get any answer to my email.Update: It is now 8/24/2021 ... several emails back and forth regarding the bent spokes. I was told back at the end of April that a new wheel would be sent to me in July. I was assuming that meant this year (sarcasm) ... still no wheel replacement.Update: 11/23/2021 .. Wheel replacement finally arrived last week. I'll never order a bike online again!

Hub that holds front wheel broke off!! Only ridden two times on moerate short trail. Going to contact Pacific about this. Chain jumps off when you bounce. Needs chain guide! Frame at rear has rough weld joint you won't see in pictures. I'll send pictures of areas I've discussed. Thanks,Terry

If you are on the higher end of the frame measurement - go up a size! I'm 5' 5" and ordered the small frame. It's too short by about 3 inches. What a pain after putting the bike together to find that out! I ended up selling it to a friend at a loss. They only give a one month window for returns. Do not trust the frame measurements.

For starters I am new to mountain biking. I wanted to get something to get out on, exercise, and hit some trails with some friends. When I received the bike it had a couple of holes in the box. There were some minor scratches to the frame, but they aren't bad. Assembly was pretty easy and straightforward. I would recommend following the user manual.I am pretty impressed so far. This has been a great mid-grade bike to start on. Dig the orange color. Has some nice specs on it. I got a large frame, 29" wheels. I am about 5'11" and it fits great. I did have an issue with the threading on one of the pedals. However, I am working with Mongoose on getting it resolved. I went directly to the manufacturer to handle the issue. Thought it would save me some time.

I gotta say I'm pretty impressed with this bike out of the box -- shifting and brakes were adjusted perfectly and wheels were fairly true but the hubs were a little tight, but easily adjustable and now very smooth. Wheels and hubs seem like they are built to last and are not very heavy at all, even with the tires. The Shimano shifting and Tektro brakes are great -- better than what came on a $2k 'boutique' bike I bought a few years ago. The rest of the parts are almost as good -- hub engagement is not bad at all for a budget hub, also much better than my previous more expensive bike. Gearing is totally adequate for me at least with even steps between gears which is nice, plenty of low for climbing, but could run out of gears on really fast downhills.Frame seems great -- Lightweight, seems well engineered, everything bolts on smoothly and straight, and the welds are all good and visible which I like better than the toothpaste looking welds on some bikes. Can take an internal dropper too. Fits me perfectly based on the website suggestion, but I still need more rides to tell about the stem for sure. The bike rolls smooth and fast! Can really cover ground with the 29er. This bike climbs great and is really comfortable. I climbed a big hill in my neighborhood just because and I never do that! I LOVE the orange color! The seat and grips are much better than expected, and the pedals are ok too -- very light and spin smooth and should get better with use. I thought I'd swap all those out immediately but have decided to try them all longer. The tires are also pretty good, not too heavy, roll ok on pavement/hardpack, and pretty good in the dirt so far. Another pleasant surprise. The only real gripe I have with this bike is the fork -- it is really heavy and just so-so in performance. I did ride with it for a day but then I swapped it out for a lighter air spring fork. Not a terribly expensive upgrade and the performance increase is incredible -- wheelie game is much improved haha! And yes, this bike wheelies great! My first real BMX bike in the 70s was a Mongoose Motomag -- it's GOOD to be back on a Mongoose!**Upgrading this to 5 stars from 4 because I realized the hardware to upgrade to 12x148 rear wheel is built into the frame! No additional dropout hardware needed! Upgrade at your own pace if desired. Love this bike!**

This bike was a big upgrade for me and I'm really enjoying it! My last ride was a $175 Walmart dinosaur so naturally this is a big improvement. I ride 2-3 times a week on flat trails in Northwest Bay County Florida. This bike can probably handle more of the hardcore downhill stuff with some upgrades to the fork and drive train. Anyone interested in that would probably choose a different bike anyways. The SX system is the lowest end of the Sram Eagle series but perfect for my needs. I was using 26 inch wheels before (yeah, my bike was so old 26ers were still popular) so these 29ers are way better. The body on this bike looks and feels very high end. The seat is very padded and more comfy than I thought it would be. I had a full suspension before but loving the hardtail. It's just more simple and lightweight. It has not been uncomfortable to ride the way I use it. I like the 1×12 system also. I won't need these easy gears too much since it's so flat here in Florida. I was a bit worried the gear range would be limited but I can definitely fly on this bike. It's pretty fast!I did have one problem with the front brake system. The hydraulic fluid had leaked out and the brake didn't work. There was an oily spot in the box. I took it down the road to the bike tech and he confirmed that. I was hoping he could fix it but he only replaces hydraulic systems. He was also backed up 3 weeks because everyone and their brother is buying bikes during Covid. I asked his opinion of the bike and he was impressed. I called Pacific Cycles and they sent me out a new break system. I came in 3 days and took 5 minutes to replace. I was naturally disappointed a bit when the bike came that way but still rating it high. Who knows what happened and the service after the sale was what mattered.
