Reviews

Below are some critical reviews about Ebikeling Waterproof Electric Bicycle Conversion

I installed everything, turned it on, the lights came on, I twisted the throttle and nothing happened. Support by email amounted to 'check the plugs'. They said they sent a shipping label so I could return it so that they could test it there. They didn't email the label and now they won't answer my emails or facebook messages. I contacted them the first time 5 days ago and I am very unhappy and it looks like I rolled the dice and lost 300 dollars. Update: They responded while I was writing this review and I appear to have made them unhappy and now that we are both unhappy they want me to return for refund but they haven't send a return label or instructions yet.

Received package with no delay. Nice boxes, no damage. It was actually a few days early.Unpacking, ran fine. Did not notice that there are no or very little instructions other than references to internet and youtube video. It should include or at least mention that you should order a bag for the controller otherwise it is exposed to weather and btw, all of the corners of the controller are super sharp, kind of razor blade sharp. I used duct tape before sticking it into the bag I had to order. I was afraid it would cut the bag.Installing the LCD panel and brake handles was easy. Pulling the cables and securing them was easy too. I did not use the supplied zip ties when I tried the first one, on the first pull it broke. I used bigger once.Cables had nice not exchangeable plugs, color coordinated. It is easy to connect all of them correctly. However, make sure that they are all the way pushed together. I had to contact the service because the motor would not turn, my mistake was one connector was not pushed all the way in. BTW service was very fast to respond to my request for help.In my case the battery was not included, I ordered this : Joyisi 48V 12.5 Ebike Battery for 1000W Bike Motor, Lithium ion Bike Battery with Charger, USB Port from Joyisi due to the holidays it arrived 12 days after I ordered it, very long even though it originally stated 3 days. The battery was easy to install and after an initial charge I was testing the bike. Well, not so fast. There are no instructions how to get going. I thought by turning on the battery I would be set to go. NO.After more internet research - the LCD S830 panel comes with an on switch. Again no manual shipped. I needed to turn on the panel by holding the M button for a few seconds. No one told me that you have to program the panel. After all that I got on for a ride.Summary - spend a total of about 10 hours assembling, 4 hours troubleshooting, 4 trips to the hardware store, honestly, I had to find the right size allen key. I finally had it before destroying the nut. I also needed butt connectors. Connection between battery and controller. The plug on the controller side I could not find the right male. And then again nothing was mentioned anywhere. Not in the video from 2018 or in the paperwork.I went on line to find help, youtube has some suggestions.Good luck, it is a lot of fun.4.17.20 - a spoke broke, I asked for replacement and the response was send the entire conversion kit back. What? I am supposed to di-assemble my bike, find a new rear wheel (the old one is gone) who pays for that. And a ton of work. 7.11.20 update after about 1000 miles and average speed about 18 mph. First, I had all spokes replaced by a pro shop with special hardened Belgium spokes because original 3 of them broke and caused flat tires. If I had to do it again 1200 watts is too much. 750 is a) legal in most states and b) fast enough. This one gets me (260lbs) to 30+ mph and on a flat trail more than 3 hours at average 20mph. That’s great, no complaints. At level 3 I can ride about 40 miles average 15 mph. Battery pack 42V

Just finished installing on my tandem bikes. I had to do some modifications to make it work. The kit is awesome so far. I will ride the bike more and add more info. So far everything is working perfectly and I try contacting the company and they were so responsive. For price is a steal.// one year latterI bought this 7/15/2019 and wrote less than 200 miles on it. Rim got cracked and can not be true, I emailed the company and it was their responseSorry for the issue you have with the rim.Unfortunately, we are not able to replace it as the unit is no longer warranty covered. So disappointing . That's why it was cheap .I learned my lesson.

This is my first DIY e-bike kit and I found it to be a really fun and intuitive project.I ordered the battery (rear rack 48v 17.5 Ah) at roughly the same time from a different carrier and they both came in 2 weeks early on the same day. My current top speed (my bike being roughly 40 pounds and me being 200) is 30 mph on purely throttle and 35 mph with me using the PAS system. All the equipment seemed to be in great shape. They also threw in a couple leds and a phone holder (last photo). Only con is that they only provided 1 torque arm when you really need 2 (wheel begins to run against the railing after a while and readjusting can be bothersome).Luckily it's only $10,but it would be easier if they just threw 2 in to begin with

I mounted this kit on an old trek 5200 road bike and so far its fantastic. I did have some issues with the controller that it shipped with, but after 2 emails with Ebikeling they rushed me a replacement controller that solved my problems. I am running the kit with a 52v 9AH battery and I am able to easily hit 33mph on flat roads with some light pedaling. This has made my commute a breeze. This kit requires some mechanical ability and some bike tools. To mount the pedal assist sensor you need to remove a the cap for the bottom bracket. This usually requires removing one or both pedal/crank arms. Do not be scared, there are videos by the guys at "Park Tools" on youtube that explain it all. Also, you will need to adjust your rear derailur for the new gears (if you are getting the rear hub) kit. These are pretty easy things to do after watching a youtube video or two, or just have a local bike shop help you out. Some tips:1) Buy some rim tape and replace the red tape that comes with the new wheel. The tape they use is thin and lead to two flats on my bike. This tape is what I am using now and fits the rim perfectly (700c kit) https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0013KH8X82) On the pedal assist sensor, put a drop of super glue on each magnet. I had two come loose on me, luckily I found them just in time.3) Get a bike bag to keep the controller in, I have yet to find a hard shell case for it, when I do I will update this review with a link. I used this one but cut a hole in it: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B077SJTMLC4) The controller uses a XT60 plug, if your battery does not have that you can splice one in using these: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B073QJWVVK

I ordered this 700c kit as well as the 1200W 26 inch fat tire kit for a fat tire bike, and I love them. They’re well made and thoughtfully put together. The customization capability is tremendous.I’ve been able to get the 700c bike up to 30 MPH and the 26 Inch fat tire bike up to about 28 MPH with throttle-only. (I’m about 215 pounds.). Note - I do not recommend riding at that speed regularly although the fat bike handles the high 20s with greater stability than the 700c bike.Make sure the 48v battery you use has at least a 25 Amp continuous discharge (1,200 Watts = 48 Volts X 25 Amps). Many 48v batteries out there are designed for 250 or 500 watts.Customer support is great too. Through my own carelessness not greasing the axle Bolts, I stripped several nuts. I reached out to Ebikeling via email just enquirer about the axle nut size (M14 X 1.0 MM pitch by the way), and they offered to send me replacement nuts for free without even asking.
