Below are some critical reviews about Diamondback Bicycles Wildwood Classic CompleteThe chain guard fell off about the third time I rode it. The brackets were broken so I could not put it back on. The chain will not stay on the front gears without it.
Two Reviews: 1) The Bike Itself, 2) The Buying Experience1) Bike is solid, low-end, budget type bike with budget type components. Frame seems larger than sizing chart. I'm 6'1" with 33" inseam and the frame fits body and arms, but is borderline on standover. Meaning I barely can stand over it even though sizing chart puts me comfortably on it. I had to tune it up out of box (more later) and once done, I like the bike. I see me on it every time I need groceries or a small errand needs to be run. It's not an all day ride unless you're stopping a lot.2) Buying Experience: Appalled when I saw the box. It was obviously partially opened at one time. A good foot on each side of a corner had been heavily taped. I blame the seller on that. However, the box then looked like UPS played toss a box with it. There were multiple holes and tears on every side of the box. Also, when unpacking, one zip tie had been snipped and the bag with hardware had been opened. I seriously considered taking pictures and refusing the shipment. But I unpacked everything and laid it out, everything was there and nothing was damaged at all except for a super slight smear on the top bar. But man, UPS and the Seller have some 'splaining to do. Lastly, and worst, the bike was way out of ready condition. Both wheels were warped, the back cantilever (brakes) was all sticky, and the front derailleur was off a bit. I specifically bought this brand because of the bragging they do about how their bikes are ready in 30 minutes out of box. Nope. It took hours of tinkering and adjusting (I'm not a bike mechanic but have several hours experience working on bikes) to get it smooth and road ready. Don't know if it was lazy "I work for a corporation" effort or if it was the shipping. Either way, not pleased with how much care I had to put into it to get it road safe.Overall: Good bike, solid, low-end budget bike. Felt like I paid $250 for the bike, and another $100 for the name. I'm going to buy new brakes because the factory brakes are a little on the cheap end, and I also just like upgrading. If you're not into working on the bike, I'd strongly recommend taking it in for a tune up before taking it out. I know that adds cost and goes against the whole point of buying a "simple to get going" bike, but this is just based on my experience. It feels like I should have paid less than $350, it's not worth that much. But if you find it for $300 or less, I'd jump on it.

This bike was delivered to me in late May and I purposely waited a while before writing a review. I'm 66 years old and hadn't ridden a bike in over thirty years so I wanted to make sure I was going to keep it before I wrote anything. I must admit I was pleasantly surprised. Not only did I keep it, I love it. They call it a "Comfort" bike because that is exactly what it is, Comfortable. The first day I rode it I put 15 miles on it and didn't have a single issue involving me nor the bike. It's been virtually trouble free and has about 500 miles (mostly on paved Greenways) on it now. I plan to take it to the bike shop next month when the days get shorter and have them give it a good professional tune-up. My wife and I ride 40 to 50 miles a week now and the bike continues to not disappoint. I highly recommend it to anyone looking to start riding for pleasure. You won't win any races on it because that's not what it's designed for but you'll certainly enjoy riding it.
After I ordered my bike I thought it'd take 2 weeks to get. I was a little surprised when it arrived a week early, but there was a problem. The box looked to be in good condition except for a minor squished corner. Then after opening it I found that the seat post assembly and small parts box was missing!I went to the "help" area and clicked through a few links to start the online chat feature. I explained about the missing parts and was quickly given assistance in getting them.Enough about that... Amazon fixed the issue quickly and I was never all that unhappy with the way things went. I had my bike in about the same amount of time I expected too have it.You'll get your bike in one box. Watch the video labeled "Basic Assembly" below, it's very close to how it arrives and what you'll need to do. I had the hex wrenches, lube, and a medium-small flat tipped screw driver already. That's about all it takes to put it together. It only took me 30 minutes from box to bike.I've had issues with derailleurs in the past and the thought of clickidy clackidy gears bothered me. But I watched several youtube videos on how to tune them and was ready to give it a go. If things didn't go right I planned on taking it to a "mom-n-pop" bike shop to do it for about $25.Turned out after watching the videos I was fine, the bike needed very little to get it pretty much perfectly tuned. Keep in mind if you don't have the tools or just don't think you can assemble the bike it's cheap to have someone do it for you. For the amount of effort it took me, I'd do it again for the fun of it. It's not that difficult at all. Just break it down into steps and tackle each one at a time.On to the BikeMy big old butt didn't like the seat so I ordered a Cloud-9 Gel Saddle to replace it. I'm also ordering different pedals because the ones that come with it (9/16") don't have gripper edges. Great if you're going to ride shoeless but slippery if you just wear walking shoes.The gears are really nice and it shifts very smoothly. 1st gear is so low most older people like me won't have a problem riding through grass. It's very sandy-grassy here and I get through that with only minor effort without even standing up on the pedals.I've ridden the bike about 100 miles so far and the gear cables being new need to be re-adjust again. No biggie to do, the "fine" adjustment cable knob things are enough till next time or the time after that. I've grown to dislike the tires and since I mostly stick to roads and sidewalks I'm going to replace the rubber with Kenda K838's. They're a more street oriented tire.One last thing, this is the first bike that actually fits me. I'm 6'3 and ordered the 21"/X-Large frame. I do not recommend this one for anybody under 6'. Love my new bike, probably the best $200 bike I've seen. Only thing to watch for no grease in the bearings none. Been putting together bikes a long time first time I found none. But everybody should check things like that when they put a bike together. Couple adjustments on the derailleur in the brakes and for a bike like this it's just fine. Not expecting a $5,000 mountain bike. But extremely comfortable, durable and as good as any high-end bike from the eighties.
