Reviews

Below are some critical reviews about Mountain Aluminum Shimano Disc Brake Bicycle

I purchased 2 of these bikes for my grandkids for Christmas. One bike went together without problems the other one has been nothing but problematic. First issue, one of the screws that holds the handlebars onto bike was an incorrect size. The thickness and tread size was different from the other 3 screws and who ever did this forced the screw into the nut and stripped some threads. Second, the front wheel is off center and I'm not sure how to correct this. I installed it the same as the other bike whose wheel is centered. Bent fork possibly?? Third, the hand speed changer levers are difficult to push so that the derailleur system changes sprockets (cog wheel). It has completely stopped changing gears either up or down. The user manual doesn't cover the mountain bike assembly instructions where certain areas are different than the other bikes. My one grandson is extremely happy with his bike, the other grandson is very unhappy and had only ridden it once before the speed changer levers quit working. This one may be returned for a replacement.UPDATE: Emailed customer support about problems and they asked me to take bike to local bike shop. Bike shop repaired all issues and HILAND paid for all the repairs. Bike has been working perfectly since then. My grandson is very happy now.

The tires are so fragile. For some reason they just keep on leaking air. We took it apart to see if was punctured or something. But there was none. It was ridden on a flat sidewalk with no other stuff. The seal of the inner tires just gave out and leaked tiny little bits of air. We didn’t know that at first, and we pumped the tires. It seemed okay just sitting there overnight. But then the next morning when we rode it, the tires gave out. So very annoying. Will not purchase.

I like the way the bike looked and it was the type of bike I was interested in and advertised it would be nearly fully assembled. Not so easy the gears did not work. The seat clamp broke and I still wanted the bike, I took it to a reputable bike repair shop and they could not guarantee their repair would help. The gears would need a lot of work and the bike needed to be completely rebuild. It would have cost me a lot more money and they still would not guarantee the repairs would last.

Rides ok but not terribly impressive

Overall, This is a good Bike. Rear Derailed and Brakes work well. My only issue is that the front derailed does not work properly. Tried to adjust per the Manual. I have managed to get it to use the two smaller gears. Not willing to pay a bike shop to tune a brand new Bike. They will charge $80 for a repair on a brand new Bike.

While this is a budget bike, there are a few important features which make it cheap, but not garbage.- disc brakes, these are cheap but they're better than rim by far and could be upgraded.- aluminum frame welds are good, and there appears to be clearance for 2.5in tires.- trigger shifters/brake lever combo is reasonably high quality, metal brake levers, derailleurs are shimano.- derailleur hanger means frame isn't going to be scrap in one crash- mounting points for a rear rackthere are also some places where costs were cut heavily. the front fork, tires, and seatpost are all terrible. however, these are all relatively simple bolt-on upgrades. along with paring the drive train down to a x1 in the front and maybe a brake upgrade, this could be a capable budget trail bike.
