Reviews

Below are some critical reviews about Electric TotGuard Bicycles 50 60Miles Suspension

Let’s go through the cons first, because it’s enough to make me wish I got a different (slightly better) eBike.First off, the battery life is extremely exaggerated in the description. Actual mileage in average conditions is more like 15-20 miles on full speed throttle only mode, and 30ish miles on full speed pedal assist. The battery indicator has 7 bars. When it gets to 2, the power is much lower, and it turns off completely when it gets to 1. The battery charger says it’s supposed to be 2A, however it only outputs 1.1A max. Charge is really slow as a result of that, sometimes 5 hours is not enough. The battery is also so difficult to remove, you have to push on it with all your might to get it to slide out of the slot on the bike. Then it knocks against the top of the bike frame violently as a result. This will most likely cause the casing to crack over time. I’ve had multiple pinched fingers and cuts on my hand because of this. The battery just doesn’t seem to fit correctly on the mount, it’s difficult to get back on too. The lock doesn’t seem to actually lock the battery in place.Last, the lower gears don’t work. This isn’t the biggest issue, cause I’m always flying at 20mph in the highest gear. But the lower gears don’t seem to work. I don’t know much about bikes and gears, so maybe they just have to be adjusted…I’m just too cheap to bring it somewhere to get looked at.Limited motor power. This isn’t necessarily a pro or a con, just a fact about the 350W motor. It’s not the most powerful, really just enough to be used in pedal assist mode constantly. If you’re going up a hill, pedal assist is basically required. If the bike wasnt so cheap, this would be a con…but I think the price fits performance here. Now for the few pros:Price, it’s cheap. Much cheaper than most other eBikes out there. For the price, it honestly isn’t too bad (if I wasn’t having an issue with the front tire).Headlight is super bright which is great for nighttime use.Speed. 19.8mph is pretty darn fast. At first, I thought I wished it went faster, but after finding a large hill to go down and get up to 25-30mph….20 is plenty fast for a bicycle.Easy to assemble…but needs some adjustments (brakes and gears).

I bought 2 bikes and the battery on one of them did dye. When I asked for customer support the seller wanted me to troubleshoot the dead battery with multimeter. First of all nether I or my friends have a multimeter. Second I don't feel comfortable troubleshooting batteries. You cannot even take a battery on the plane because they are hazard items. So I ended up eating the expense of a new battery $200+ Product is okay but seller is not that really great.Update: After me leaving bad review someone reached out and offer to send me a new part for me to update the review. I did receive the new part but I could not ride my bike now since it is winter time. So I am updating the review to 3 stars even thought it feels wrong.

Below are some positive reviews about Electric TotGuard Bicycles 50 60Miles Suspension

My wife and I both love cycling and we have manual bikes. Never gave a thought about e-bikes ever unless recently I got a 2-scooter that is so convenient to ride and use. Hence, decided to try a battery bike as well for myself. Just like the scooter, I like how easy it makes it to go for long rides. My detailed comments are below after using it for a week and I would recommend this product to anyone looking for an e-bike in this price range. My 2 cents are below: Pros:- This bike ride is very smooth overall. It handles well in bumps as well because of the front suspensions- Has 3 modes to ride the bike - ebike, assisted bicycle & normal bike.- Shimano 21-speed transmission system in form of gears and that should satisfy all the needs for any terrain of biking - Has a maximum speed of around 20MPH. I am not sure about you but riding a bike over 15MPH is something my wife and I both don't prefer for safety reasons and hence it delivers as per our needs. It has a 350W high-power motor and immediately catches the speed on pressing the trigger- 36V battery gives around 20.5 miles range on a full charge when it is fully electric mode and it is more than enough for any home or basic use. It can go around 37.3 miles in the least level of assisted mode- Digital HD led display is very fancy and intuitive but I wish it was colored - Front suspension is lockable as well to suit your needs- Has disc brake in both from and rear wheels. It worked great overall for sudden and usual brakes while riding it - Buttons for horn/headlight are very accessible being under the display facing your side. It is very easy to control even while riding - Central b/w display visibility is nice even in sunlight. The screen is very bright and has no issues in reading values even in bright light - Headlight LEDs are bright enough for night rides as well. We usually tend to ride in the evening or when it is about to get dark and hence we liked this - Overall this e-bike looks fancy and targets youth customers. It would be a great choice for anyone in the '30s- Even tires have good grip overall and we did not feel it skidding as if now- Great build quality and structure feels very strong from any angle- It is easy to charge with the access point in a nice area. It charged from zero to full in around 5 hours and I found it to be true to what the manufacturer claims - Battery compartment is removable and is IP54 waterproof - Comes very well packed and there was no damage at all - Bike comes in big packaging with most of the assembly already in place. Just had to fit some parts and screw them up. It was overall an easy assembly but sometimes you may need 2nd hand to get it done easily, especially for hooking the front wheel- Detailed manual provided and should cover any question you may have during use, however, there is a con as mentioned in the 2nd section - Manufacturer offers a 1-year warranty on the bike- Has multiple (4 to be precise) color options to choose from - Very reasonably priced in this category of product and it is a bank for the bucks Cons:- I wish this bike had a bike lock inbuilt, preferably an electronic one just like how you have in motorbikes for that convenience to take it anywhere- I really wish it had rear fenders for dirt protection and a rack to keep something. This bike is made for mountain biking and so mud or water coming on the rear body of the rider is not a very appealing thing - Taillight is just a reflector and not a brake-operated electric light. When the battery exists with 2 disc brakes in the bike, then the tail light should have been included in this bike- There is a wire going very next to the front tire and it touches the tire sometimes on sharp turns. I had to put a cable tie and wrap it properly so that it remains far away from the tires in any situations- There are no assembly instructions included in the manual that comes along with the bike-Height of the seat is adjustable but there is a limit. For example, my wife with 5 feet of height barely was able to make it to the ground with the lowest seat setting. However, the manufacturer has clearly stated this in one of their listing pictures

My brother loves it! He especially loves that it is about the size of an adult bike and not the smaller electric bikes that look like they are made for kids.My only complaint was the assembly. I have never assembled a bike like this or any bike for that matter. Yeah they have a video on Amazon for this, but it moves so fast that I had to keep rewinding back and pausing and rewatching and I got incredibly frustrated. Save yourself some time and go find a YouTube video for the assembly. The bike arrived very well packaged. Note: the tires are NOT inflated, so make sure you have a bike pump on hand. Other than that, my brother loves it. It was great for the price.

Update on May 6, 2022. The seller has been responsive about offering a replacement battery which has arrived, and appears to now let the bike work as designed, as I just completed a 5-mile ride on the new battery in pretty hilly terrain and finished with 4 bars left on the battery. The initial damage prevents this from being a five-star experience, but the customer service does make this pretty good value. The bike handles pretty well, taking significant bumps (I have a railroad crossing near me) without drama. The assist is enough to get my out of shape 250lbs self up all but the steepest hills without drama. I do live on a massive hill that is a bit too much right now, but I'm sure getting more miles in will help my legs do their part. The brakes are perfectly functional, but not super confidence inspiring, so I'll probably be making a weekend trip down to my local bike shop for an upgrade. Probably not a big deal if you aren't dealing with large hills. One other minor downside I'll mention is that the bike frame doesn't have a lot of space for attaching accessories to the frame, so you'll probably want a rack/basket if you're using this for utilitarian trips. I suspect this is down to the relatively lightweight design for an ebike that seeks to minimize materials, so it's understandable. All in all, this bike is now living up to my expectations and seems to be a solid value.------End update---------I really wanted to like this bike, and will update after dealing with the hassle of having to return an entire bike over what I'm pretty sure is a defective battery. The bike came mostly in good shape, though some of the plastic clips which attach the battery were broken. Despite this, the battery seems to click into place, though it was so hard to remove that it was tough to tell if the lock works or not. Assembly was pretty easy. The front brake caliper required some adjustment but other than that it went together well. The initial charge indicated that the battery was fully charged after just 15-20 minutes. I went out for a short ride and all was well. I took it out a couple days later after topping up, primarily using a mix of assist levels and a bit of throttle on relatively flat terrain and it died after about 4 miles right before getting to the big hill. I took it out again a few days later after another full recharge, going a bit easier on the assist, and it didn't even get as far as the first ride before the battery totally died before despite still showing 4/5 bars on the power meter. Now about a week later after not taking it out due to a cold, it refuses to turn on despite the charger indicating that the bike is fully charged. I've tried reseating the battery, powering it on and off, but nothing. I suspect whatever happened in shipping that broke the clips on the battery may have caused more serious damage inside. The topper for this is that there is no support option to just replace the battery. Not having a warehouse to store large boxes, I also can't simply return the bike for a refund since I don't have packaging to fit it in. This means that I now have to try another one and hope I don't have the same issues. I suppose this is acceptable financially, but the hassle (and environmental impact) of having of having to exchange a whole bike for a bad battery has left a really sour taste in my mouth. To the extent that the bike worked, it was enjoyable. I'm now just kind of wishing I had just bought a better e-bike to begin with instead of cheaping out on something like this.
