- The tuning kit can be activated directly on your ebike’s display or control. Mostly for the US Bosch Models activation is by pressing ‘+-+- ‘ or ‘-+-+’ . If the Walk button is active you can activate by pressing ‘Walk and +’. A value of 6.2 mph on your display will indicate that Tuning kit is activated. Now on you will be able to ride at a speed of 25mph, 30mph and even more than 37mph.
- After installing the Tuning kit the e-bike display shows real data such as maximum speed, average speed, daily distance and range.
- When using SpeedBox 3.0 in Bosch motors of the 4th Generation (from 2020) the eBike must remain on after the end of the ride until the display shows a constant speed of 0.0mph. During this phase, the display displays the remaining time (in minutes). Then you can park the bike safely and look forward to the next ride. If you don't leave it for the count down, nothing serious will happen just you will need to wait for the count down before the next trip.
- Please be aware that Tuning kit do not add extra power to your eBike, it removes speed limits.

Reviews

Below are some critical reviews about SPEEDBOX Suitable 2014 2020 Generation Generation

Worked great until about 50 miles of riding an error code 504 ( TUNER DETECTED ) showed up on the controller screen and the bike went into limp mode. I had to ride in limp mode for 90 minutes to clear the clear the error code. You can do this 3 times, then you need to take it to a Bosch technician and your warranty will be void. For me reliability is more important than speed, so when someone can guarantee that I wont waste my time on a tuner that can be detected I will just keep it stock.

I have bosch gen2 motor - speedbox took off limiter but when i tried set up limit on 28mph it didn't work.

Worked as expected on my 2020 eBike with Bosch performance Cx motor for about 350 miles and then I got the dreaded 504 error. It fails to deliver on its promise and I will ride without it going forward. Very disappointed.

Works 100% as advertised. Tucking the unit behind your motors plastic cover can be a pain, depending on the bike/frame type you have. I basically zip tied the cords somewhat neatly and tightened the cover.Of course everyone wants to know how fast your bike can go. I have a hard tail with 2nd gen bosch performance CX motor. It can exceed 40 mph with significant effort on my part. That said, not safe, and will kill your battery/motor. These things are just not built for that kind of duty, I measured excessive heat from both the battery pack and drive motor, unlike anything the bike has seen over the ~3500 miles I have put on so far. That said, I bought this to turn a class 1 (20MPH) ebike , into a class 3 (28 MPH) ebike and for that it works flawless. Don't listen to the reviews that say you cannot set a speed limit. The instructions are not particularly clear, but what you need to do is cycle (quickly) from turbo to eco and back to turbo. The display will flash numbers referring to max speed assist, from there you can press the walk button (intuvia display) or turn the back wheel to increase the max assist. It doesn't quite make sense (maybe to do with bike wheel size?), but for me setting the display at 2.5 = 28 mph max assist. From here it works perfectly for commuting. I put in fair effort, and the bike does as well.

INSTALLATION:The device itself was fairly easy to install. The unit was smaller than expected. This made fitting it easy. The hard part was getting the covers back on. The covers has small spacers which were hard to keep in place while you lined up the screws. The covers are probably not even necessary. I did not need to remove the crank.APPLICATION:I was able to get the bike to 30 mph, and it did not cut out. That is more than I need for my purposes. There is a counter that flashes .01 to .06 when you stop. I am not sure what to do, so I wait for the count down. My bike is under warranty and hope if it breaks I can fix it. I rarely go over 20mph, and if the true speed was 20 I would not need this device. More on that below.THE BIKE AND POSSBLE HACKS:I bought the Niner WFO E9. The bike was limited to 18.5 on the bike speedo. The real GPS speed was 15. I went to the dealer who was surprisingly helpful and changed my wheel size to the smallest Bosch would allow. Now the true speed limit was 16.5. I was hoping the wheel diameter change would get me close to 22 or so mph so I have some headroom for certain jumps. If the speedo was accurate the hack would work and I would not need to buy this device.PERFORMANCE ON NORMAL BIKE VS EBIKE:On my enduro I can get the speeds needed but I get tired after 2 passes. I wanted to be able to do the same jumps over and over which is why I bought the WFO E9. The climb up and the run up to the jumps ate up all my energy on my enduro. After 2 or 3 jumps I was so spent I could not do the jumps in the manner I wanted because it requires energy that was wasted on the run up. The e-bike cuts out so hard its like a wall at 15mph when I need 18 to 20 to clear and land it perfectly. I was not able to clear the jumps on the ebike until I got this chip. All I need was the right jump speed which the bike should do if it was reading accurately.MESSAGE TO BOSCH:If you are reading this at least make the 20mph limit 20 instead of exaggerating read outs. Allow it to be slightly hacked on the next update. 22 to 24 aint too much ask for.

UPDATE 2: the company replaced the older model, and new one works at stoplights--UPDATE: there is a huge delay before power kicks in at a stoplight, and its too awkward for me, will be looking at other options (I’ve heard Volspeed 3 has no delay but doesn’t ship to the US)—My bike is 2016 Haibike XDURO Cross RC with Gen2 Performance Line CX motor and the latest firmware from local shop (July 2020).There is space above and to the side, but the chip rattled slightly so: 1. repacked chip in the pictured location 2. used electrical tape for stick/padding 3. angled the tape and chip downward against potential water droplets. The cover presses onto the wires and main chip, so it feels much sturdier and less hacky now.Anyways, its pricey but probably the most important to me. I got up to 26mph just to verify it works, and it will be nice keeping up with traffic and taking the main car lane, rather than worrying about people opening their doors. I also plan on installing a 22 tooth chainring and bashguard/lockring from Miranda. My bike is very heavy, and I think good brakes are a must.
