And the pictures don't even have arrows indicating what joins with what and in which order.The bike itself is okay but there is a lot of play where the seat joins to the length adjustment rail. And, there is no way to tighten it. So, the seat will oscillate back and forth as you pedal.
Instruction manual is just a list of parts and a poor diagram. The hex/screw driver was cracked and broke half way through putting the bike together. Missing 2 lock washers. Parts that could have been assembled and placed in the same package before shipping were not. They should be paying me to have assembled this thing. I guess they figured why not increase their bottom line and force the consumer to put everything together.
I assembled the product after getting 2 replacement parts from Marcy Pro. Bonus: the customer support is helpful with getting you replacement parts. The installation guide was fairly confusing.The product is also not great - the lever to adjust the bike goes down, but does not actually stop the bike from moving. The mechanism stopped the seat momentarily until I got deeper into the exercise, and the seat started to slide down. The customer support offered to send parts; it's multiple parts if the thing can't even stop moving. It also wasn't particularly comfortable when I was exercising. And now it's officially too late to return the bike, so here's my warning to you all: don't buy one yourself.

I was originally looking at more-expensive bikes including the Nautilus 614 and 616, and Schwinn 270. But I'm glad I went the cheaper route as the Marcy bike is fantastic and easy to use. 20 levels of resistance is more than enough, even for doing HiiT-style routines and the display is nicely back-lit and easy-to-read without being obtrusive like the other bikes. A plus is that it generates its own power similar to gym -style bikes so you can place it anywhere and there is no power cord to trip over. Build quality feels good and the instructions were easy to follow - took a little over an hour to assemble. Overall footprint is much smaller than the Nordictrac, Proform, and Nautilus/Schwinn models. Resistance is smooth and very quiet.Very happy with the purchase.
I am just recovering from a knee replacement, and needed an exercise bike to help me get back into shape. I was looking at some of the more expensive models, but my wife convinced me to get one that was more economical until I knew that I would use it consistently. Found the Marcy ME-706 and it seemed to fit the bill exactly.Assembly was not too difficult, and took about an hour and a half to do (I assembled it on my own, and an extra set of hands would have reduced this a good bit). I don't remember having any troubles following the instructions, and there were not any really difficult sections. I had more difficulty getting all the packaging material off the bike than I did assembling it.I set up my bike in our home gym, and put my video game console on the tv in the same room. In the past two months, I have ridden the bike every day for around an hour a day. The bike has a good range of very smooth resistance, and is nearly silent in operation. The only complaint that I have is that for the longer rides, the seat was not overly comfortable. I did purchase a memory foam seat made for a rowing machine, and this seems to work perfectly. The bike has a good amount of pre-programmed exercises, and honestly they fit my needs perfectly. Just as a frame of reference, I'm a fairly big guy (6'2", 270 pounds), and I had no difficulty adjusting the seat to fit my frame. Bike seems to be very solid with only a few minor squeaks when I move around suddenly.I had originally planned to get this as a short term test case to see if I would actually use the bike. I had planned to replace it with a more advanced model if my test went well. But honestly, this bike is perfect for me, and I don't plan to trade it out any time soon!
This is a well-built recumbent bicycle for the money. It rivals bikes that are in the 800-$1000 price range. Assembly is required so mechanical skills are essential to successfully putting this bike together. There are a few shortcomings to be aware of. The bike comes with two manuals: one for assembly and one for operations. Both are helpful, but basic. The operating manual requires some interpretation. The most significant issue relates to the seat assembly. First it takes care and some manipulation of the seat clamp mechanism to get it to slide onto the seat rail. Second and most annoying, the seat shifts from side to side during use, rather than being firmly set by the seat clap mechanism. Most of the advice tells you to call the company to fix this problem. However, with some mechanical skill there is a relatively simple solution (see photos). 1. Demount the seat assembly. 2. There are four rollers the position the seat assembly on the seat rail. Each is attached with a chrome nut. 3. Remove the roller by removing the nut (using wrench and Allen wrench supplied with the bike). 4. Install a 5/16" washer on the roller spindle and then reinsert the roller and tighten. Add a washer to all four rollers. 5. Tighten all four nuts, one for each roller. 6. It will take some finesse to get seat assembly back onto the rail because the rollers are now tight against the rail. Once the seat clamp is set in place you will find that there is very little movement from side to side. Enjoy the ride.
