I like the DP-C18, it has all the functions needed for riding + I like the battery consumption gauge too. It's bright enough in direct sunlight where I can read it wearing sun glasses but the only gripe I have is with the brightness with the headlight enabled. For safety, it desirable to have the headlight on in day light (not just at night) and when you turn on the headlight ... the display dims thinking it's dark out -- in direct sunlight with sun glasses, it's too difficult to see the screen. It's ok if it behaves that way, but there is no option to set the display brightness to max when the headlight is on as a default. Each time you turn on the headlight, you need to go to the settings menu and set the brightness to max -- that's so annoying. It would be nice to have a firmware update but I don't have hopes they'll fix this behaviour.
The best simple display for Bafang mid-drives (also this seller is the best that I have used for all eBike parts).This display is easy to install (just plug into Bafang waterproof-type cable connector)The LCD panel is very easy to view and to program (if needed).Also, the included thumb 'button selector' can be placed right next to the grip for easy access (just be careful not to tighten the included thumb selector 'rear bracket' too tightly as it is very thin).I have used the other 'color' models and some 'LCD backlit' (black background with white characters ) models but these (dark characters) are much easier-to-read in bright daylight and have a clear, uncluttered display.
Nothing really wrong with the factory original but this unit, available here and some other sites, drops right in and does offer some additional info and flexibility in programming choices. Would not take my programming of battery voltage capacity 48V...so rather than display voltage, I have it display percentage of charge...and there are red/green/yellow light bars for charge remaining as well. It is a little bit of a learning curve, and more buttons to play with but not at all impossible and that's how they cram more features into a similar sized box.
